During my recent adventure at Saxonis Houses & Saxonis Villa in the picturesque village of Papingo, I found more than just charming accommodations; I discovered a haven for both relaxation and outdoor exploration. Nestled within the breathtaking landscape of Zagoria, this destination is a dream for avid hikers, offering proximity to the majestic Vikos Gorge and the famous Dragon Lake, which is truly worth the challenge. The rooms were a perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional elegance, featuring Cocomat mattresses and attention to detail, which made our stay incredibly cozy. Breakfast was a highlight, daily presenting homemade treasures like whole grain bread, local cheeses, and delightful baked goods, fueling our hiking adventures ahead. What truly sets Saxonis apart, however, is the welcoming spirit of our host, Vasilis, who went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met—his warm hospitality feels like a personal touch amidst the captivating natural beauty. If you find yourself in Greece, I highly recommend this little gem, and I assure you, I cannot wait to return for a longer stay with friends!
